A Legacy of Elegance:

Hotel Diamond Through the Years

The Morehead Building, originally constructed in 1900, was a masterpiece of architectural detail, adorned with a beautiful corner cupola and elegant bay windows. However, in 1940, a shift in architectural fashion led to a drastic 'modernization' that stripped the building of its unique features.

Decades later, the vision of the late owner, Wayne Cook, was to return the building to its original grandeur. This dream was realized through a painstaking restoration process that spanned from 2017 to 2021. Today, the expansion features exquisite details such as beautiful black millwork, natural lighting, and antique furnishings. The accommodations are now fully accessible to all guests.

A highlight of the restoration is the stunning Broadway Penthouse. The penthouse boasts a full kitchen, elegant black walnut burl cabinetry, and white marble countertops. It also features a magnificent, walk-in circular cupola on the corner, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of downtown Chico, beautifully echoing the building's original design.

The building undergoes a "modernization," removing the cupola, bay windows, and other architectural details.

2017-2021

A meticulous restoration project takes place to return the building to its original stature and create new five-star suites.

Post-2021

The expansion is completed, reviving the building's elegance with new features, including a restored cupola and the Broadway Suite.

    Only service animals are allowed at the Hotel Diamond.

    While we don’t have a gym on property, we partner with In Motion Fitness and offer complimentary gym passes at the front desk.

    We provide complimentary vouchers for 1 continental breakfast at The Grill (Monday – Saturday, 6:30 – 9:30 AM) or $15 off any food or beverage item in the lounge or dining rooms. Max of 2 vouchers per night.
